Abstract
This project involved examining the application of the Prolog programming language to a real-time process control environment. I have specifically applied Prolog to certain aspects of a control system for an automated effluent treatment plant that has been constructed for the Canterbury Frozen Meat Company Ltd (CFM). My aims were to determine whether or not Prolog has a contribution to make in the process control environment, and what difficulties are likely to arise in this area of application.
