dc.description.abstractWe describe a methodology for the location of a freight terminal of the Brazilian Postal and Telegraphic Enterprise (ECT) by using the Geographical Information System (GIS), Remote Sensing (RS) and Analytical Hierarchical Process (AHP). We propose that through this methodology urban characteristics, which affect the location problem of freight terminals, are considered. Case study in Sobradinho City, Federal District proved the efficiency of the methodology, given that the consideration of geographical – spatial variables (slopes, shortcuts and land use patterns) resulted in a more realistic analysis than traditional approaches.en
