dc.description.abstractExcessive co-channel interference (CCI) occurs in overloaded wireless environments where the number of transmitted signals exceeds the number of available receive antennas. We present a list-based multiuser detection scheme that effectively mitigates CCI in overloaded receivers with a circular array. The algorithm is named parallel symbol detection with reduced complexity interference estimation (PSD-RCIE). It employs an iterative parallel detector with list feedback of the best symbol estimates. Simulations show that our algorithm achieves near joint-maximum likelihood detection at a fraction of the complexity. Its good complexity-performance trade-off together with its parallel structure make PSD-RCIE well suited for practical implementation.en
