dc.description.abstract | The effect of high frequency sound waves on colloids is investigated experimentally by observing the behaviour of the pattern produced by the diffraction of light by progressive ultrasonic waves. The results show that disc-and needle-shaped colloids are affected by the ultrasonic waves, producing variations in the diffraction pattern. A complete description of the apparatus is given, together with the chemical preparations and the experimental methods used. | en |
