dc.description.abstractIt may well be wondered why it should be thought necessary or desirable to undertake now the review of an area of the law which was the subject of consideration and statutory modification a mere ten years ago. Had any change been necessary, it could have been accomplished then. In fact, the circumstances in which the Crimes Act was passed in 1961 have altered subsequently in three ways which, in combination, call into question once more the purpose and bases of the whole doctrine.en
