The size of the global Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) market is expected to increase which will consequently increase the demand for MRO services. The Christchurch Engine Centre (CHCEC) will need to increase its capacity from 120 engines per year in 2018 to 150 engines per year in 2020 to meet this demand. Currently, the CHCEC is expected to build another facility to accommodate this demand; however, the mismatch in the timeline for the build and expected increase in demand incentivises the CHCEC to reduce waste and decrease turnaround time for their services. One opportunity is the elimination of double processing of repair parts from CNC machines, which has an automated probing system, and verification of measurements with the CMM machine, by calibrating the CNC machines so that measurements can be verified at the point of repair. Aviation regulations require that all machines used to verify measurements be calibrated and certified by an accredited body. The purpose of this report is to present recommendations on the procedures and implementation of calibration for all CNC machines in CHCEC, starting with the Haco TUR MN 930 horizontal lathe machine. The proposed implementation will optimise the flow of repair parts going through the machine shop and eliminate processes that are unnecessary.en
