"This publication is a revised and updated version of 'Landfill Engineering Guidelines', originally included as Part 4 in Our Waste: Our Responsibility, published by CAE in 1992. The objectives of this publication are to: • provide the basis for siting, design, development, operation and monitoring of landfills in New Zealand in an environmentally acceptable and sustainable manner; • provide practical guidance to landfill owners, operators and regulatory authorities in meeting their requirements to avoid, remedy or mitigate the adverse effects of landfill disposal, in accordance with the Resource Management Act, 1991; • reflect current recommended waste industry practice for key aspects of siting, design, operation and monitoring of municipal solid waste landfills."
