Cambridge, UK: Integrating Humanities and Social Sciences Research in Energy System Transition Workshop, 5 Sep 2015.http://hdl.handle.net/10092/12414This paper reflects on young New Zealanders’ narratives about energy use. The paper is offered as a contribution to a wider discussion of interdisciplinary research methods about energy stories and narratives through time, to support more “imaginative and open thinking” about sustainable transformation. Discussion is set in the context of a story about a successful energy protest and a major national disaster. The strengths and limitations of online comparative survey instruments are briefly reviewed in the course of this initial reflection on how young people talk about energy use over time and why change in energy use happens or fails to happen in a country which, despite being a significant generator of hydro power also has one of the highest rates of greenhouse gas emissions per capital in the OECD.enLegacy Stories for a city in transition: filling the gaps after a natural disasterConference Contributions - PublishedField of Research::12 - Built Environment and Design::1205 - Urban and Regional PlanningField of Research::09 - Engineering::0906 - Electrical and Electronic Engineering::090608 - Renewable Power and Energy Systems Engineering (excl.
