Abstract

NATEP is an interactive computer system with a graphical display. It uses a simple dialogue written in 'STAF' Author Language for the user-system communication. A wide selection of numerical algorithms have been implemented with the facility to enter own functions and data. Plotting routines have been written to provide the graphical output. In this thesis, recent and current interactive computer systems used as an aid to solving Numerical Analysis problems are reviewed, and the requirements for such a system used specifically for teaching purposes are established. The development of NATEP and the numerical algorithms and the plotting routines included in the system are described.
