Master of ArtsIt was the aim of this study to make a start at providing some information on overseas students in Christchurch. Therefore, it is rather exploratory in nature and limited in scope, hoping to point the way to further studies. The purpose of the study was to present a brief general survey of the presence of 68 overseas students in Christchurch in 1961, and to investigate the opinions and views of these students as to their general problems of adjustment to the conditions of living here. This study does not attempt to measure the effectiveness of the students’ adjustment, nor the patterns and phases of adjustment, instead it attempts to study the factors and problems of adjustment these students had to face and to see how they affect them.
