Probabilistic pseudo-static analysis of pile foundations in liquefiable soils
In this paper the pseudo-static method for assessing the seismic performance of pile foundations in liquefying soils is implemented in a probabilistic framework. The framework allows for rigorous consideration and propagation of the large uncertainties which exist in the pseudo-static method. The key features of the framework are outlined, as well as further research requirements in the inputs to the analysis. The results of applying the pseudo-static method to a case study bridge structure are compared to those obtained by using effective stress analysis within a similar framework.
