Abstract

The young A6 V star β Pictoris shows variable, velocity-shifted absorptions in the Ca II H & K lines, which are attributed to infalling, evaporating, comet-like bodies (exocomets). We have analyzed Ca II H & K absorptions in β Pictoris obtained with the 1.0- metre telescope at the University of Canterbury Mt John Observatory, New Zealand. Our data show a clear division of the exocomets into the two families identified by Kiefer et al. (2014).
