Abstract

A study was conducted that investigated the efficacy of the Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) with noncompliant children from single parent families. Standard Triple P measures: Eyeberg Child Behaviour Inventory, Depression-Anxiety-Stress Scale and the Parenting Sense of Competence Scale were administered. Additional information was gathered from mothers' recordings of child noncompliance and data gathered from audiotapes made in the home. The results showed a varied pattern of responses to the intervention and across the measures employed. The need for flexible interventions, that can be employed across a range of family types is discussed and future research directions on behavioural family interventions are explored.
