Bachelor of Science with HonoursWe consider the fundamental Theorem of Approximation Theory from a constructive viewpoint, revealing that the theorem itself is fundamentally non-constructive. We subsequently present a development of a constructive alternative to the Fundamental Theorem, under the hypothesis that there is at most one best approximation in our linear space. Basic applications of this theorem are discussed and brief mention made regarding alternative additions to the hypothesis of the Fundamental Theorem.
