About the College of Business and Law The academic study of business and economics has a long and distinguished history at Canterbury. In 2006 the College of Business and Economics, comprising the Departments of Accounting and Information Systems, Economics and Finance and Management and the National Centre for Research on Europe, celebrated the centenary of the establishment of the Bachelor of Commerce degree at UC. Both the academic faculty and administrative support staff in the College are committed to offering students the opportunity to gain an internationally recognised qualification, with courses underpinned by leading-edge research in a vibrant learning environment. The University of Canterbury School of Law, founded in 1873 in Christchurch, in the South Island of New Zealand, is well established as one of the leading research and teaching Law Schools in New Zealand. With a long history of academic scholarship, the UC School of Law enjoys a well-deserved reputation for excellence in teaching, high quality writing and research as well as for producing outstanding graduates.
