Max Podstolski: Saying the ineffable

Title: Max Podstolski: Saying the ineffable
Authors: Caballero Rodriguez, B.
Abstract: This article discusses Max Podstolski's lattest work in the light of Heidegger, Nietsche and Zambrano's philosophy. The article suggests the use of the Nietzschean concepts of the Apollonian and the Dyonisian as hermeneutic tools to understand the tensions involved in Podstolski's relationship to rationality and being through the framework of his paintings.
Description: The exhibition itself is entitled My Art Instinct and it will take place in the COCA gallery, Christchurch, April 7-27, 2010.

The Knowledge Economy/Society: The Latest Example of “Measurement Without Theory”?

Title: The Knowledge Economy/Society: The Latest Example of “Measurement Without Theory”?
Authors: Oxley, L.; Walker, P.; Thorns, D.; Wang, H.
Abstract: The world has embraced a set of concepts (knowledge driven growth) which are seen as the ‘core of future growth and wellbeing’ without any commonly agreed notion of what they are, how they might be measured, and crucially therefore, how they actually do (or might) affect economic growth and social wellbeing. The theory of how the mechanism works lacks important detail.

Title: Talking About Genetic Testing: Information for Participants
Authors: Participation Sub-team, Constructive Conversations/Korero Whakaaetanga Research Project
Abstract: This document is a summary of discussions about genetic testing and the storage
of genetic information in 25 focus groups facilitated in 8 different locations by members
of the FRST funded Constructive Conversations/Korero Whakaaetanga research team
in Aotearoa/New Zealand between October 2003 and May 2004. Discussion in these
groups was prompted by three scenarios relating to genetic profiling, direct to consumer
genetic testing and biobanking. In some of the groups all three scenarios were used, in
others one or two were used to prompt discussion.
